Chișinău's progress in EU accession discussed in Brussels
The Republic of Moldova continues to make significant steps in its European path. During a visit to Brussels, Moldovan officials had a productive meeting with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement. The discussions focused on the latest progress made by Chișinău in joining the European Union, as well as the priorities for this summer.
“I had a good discussion with Marta Kos. Together, we reviewed the recent steps of the Republic of Moldova on the European agenda and talked about how much we work at home, every day, to bring Europe into every public institution, every home, and into every decision that makes people's lives safer and better,” said the Moldovan official.
Also in the context of this visit, discussions were held with the European Commission experts on transport issues. On this occasion, a meeting also took place with Matej Zakonjšek, Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community. He presented the updated map of the European transport network, which, for the first time, includes the Republic of Moldova — a symbolic and strategic step in the country's European integration process.
This week, discussions are taking place in Brussels between representatives of the Republic of Moldova and European officials regarding Chapter 14 – Transport Policy and Chapter 21 – Trans-European Networks. These two chapters are part of Cluster 4 of the accession negotiations, which focus on the green agenda and sustainable connectivity.
