Government spokesperson on Moldova-EU Summit
Moldova-European Union Summit, organized today in Chișinău, marks a defining moment for the European path of the Republic of Moldova. According to government's spokesperson Daniel Vodă, the event is 'an investment in Moldova, a demonstration of confidence and care for the future'.
'The organization of this summit in the capital of the Republic of Moldova confirms that our country is seen by the European Union as a key partner, a candidate state engaged in reforms, and a trustworthy neighbor. The direction is correct. Moldova is being taken seriously and is on the path of profound transformation,' states Daniel Vodă.
According to him, it is about the most ambitious European financial package for Moldova.
'One of the central pillars of the summit is the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, through which the EU will offer the country 1.9 billion euros - the most substantial financial package in the history of the bilateral relationship. This support will target strategic areas such as infrastructure, energy, digitalization, education and social protection, regional development,' explains the government's spokesperson.
Daniel Vodă emphasized that it is essential for central and local authorities, public agencies, and the private sector to manage these resources efficiently so that the benefits reach citizens as quickly as possible.
'Accession to the European Union is not just a destination, but a real transformation in people's lives. The Chișinău summit comes to confirm that Moldova is on the right track, and the European Union is ready to actively support this journey,' said Vodă.
European leaders are expected today in Chișinău for the first bilateral Moldova-European Union summit. The event is organized under the auspices of President Maia Sandu. The summit agenda includes advancing Moldova's EU accession process, implementing the Growth Plan, and facilitating direct contacts between citizens, including by integrating Moldova into the 'Roam like at home' area, which will reduce communication costs for travelers and entrepreneurs.
