Moldova to receive 30 million euros for renovating 15 model schools
The Republic of Moldova will receive a loan of 30 million euros from the Council of Europe's Development Bank for renovating 15 model schools. The committee for culture, education, research, youth, sports, and media has approved the ratification of the framework loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe's Development Bank.
The project is part of an initiative to expand the national network of model schools, which will thus reach a total of 50 institutions.
Thus, the funds will be used to modernize infrastructure and adapt educational units to the needs of students and teaching staff, in order to ensure a modern educational environment, including for vulnerable groups. The main goal of the project is to prevent school dropout and increase access to quality education.
The framework loan agreement will be proposed for ratification by Parliament's plenary session, and the funding will be allocated in two instalments, with the agreement's validity set until 2030. The project is also supported by international organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, UNDP, UNICEF, as well as private companies that have invested in the network of model schools.
