In Cahul district, 40 projects have been implemented through the European Village program and seven regional development projects worth a total of 241 million lei. Additionally, through European Village 2, Cahul residents will benefit from another 26 projects worth over 123 million lei. These figures were presented by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who is visiting Cahul today.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Cahul district is developing and modernizing rapidly thanks to government support and European funds. "We are bringing water to people's homes, building roads, and improving medical and educational services," mentioned Dorin Recean.
Thus, 44 km of water networks, two treatment plants, five artesian wells, and four water castles have already been built in Lopățica, Doina, Andrușul de Jos, Tătărești, Alexanderfeld, Tartaul de Salcie, and by 2025, another 12 localities will gain access to drinking water.
At the same time, intensive work is being done at Cahul wastewater treatment plant, with financial assistance from Germany and the European Union, which will serve about 40,000 citizens.
Another priority is the modernization of regional roads. Dorin Recean stated that the technical project R34 Cahul-Giurgiulești is already completed and the works are set to start. At the same time, works are resuming on the Slobozia Mare village beltway, repairs continue on the Cantemir-Cahul section, and the rehabilitation of the G141 Colibași-Vulcănești road is nearing completion.
"In healthcare, we have invested 63 million lei in the renovation and equipping of medical institutions in Cahul. The District Hospital and the maternity ward have been equipped with modern equipment, and the Intensive Care, Gynecology, and Colposcopy Departments have been completely renovated, as well as the Public Health Center. In 2023, we inaugurated the Stroke Treatment Center, and the 'Pharmacy in Your Village' program has reached several localities in the south. Seven new ambulances were also delivered for the pre-hospital emergency medical assistance service," said Dorin Recean in Cahul.
In education, 13 million lei have been invested to modernize and equip six schools and nine kindergartens. Sanitary facilities in five schools in Cahul district will be repaired, and 'Mihai Eminescu' High School will become one of the 35 Model Schools. In agriculture and rural development, farmers and localities in Cahul benefited from subsidies of 56 million lei.
"These are concrete results showing Moldova can. We will continue to take care of our people, our country, and our localities," concluded Dorin Recean.
