Investments in building energy efficiency can reduce energy resource costs by about 120 million lei
Over half a million square meters of residential areas will be renovated through the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (FEERM) launched by authorities. The Ministry of Energy estimates that FEERM investments are expected to generate cumulative energy savings of at least 14,400 tons of oil equivalent during the period 2024-2026, which will allow a reduction in the population's expenditures for energy resources consumed during this period by at least 120 million lei.
Meanwhile, in the public sector, a series of programs have been launched for the energy modernization of public buildings, including dozens of hospitals, schools, and other educational institutions.
At the same time, Termoelectrica is conducting a program to install Individual Heating Points in 88% of the blocks connected to the centralized heating system, and 60% of the buildings in Chisinau will switch to horizontal distribution of heat agent.
The actions are planned under the conditions in which the Republic of Moldova has committed, in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, to the goal of reducing energy consumption by 0.8% annually, to improve the energy efficiency of 0.8% of the country's building area annually, and 3% of the spaces in which central specialized public administration authorities operate.
Energy sector reforms in the Republic of Moldova and energy efficiency programs in the residential and public sectors, initiated in response to the energy crisis, were presented by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Carolina Novac, who participated in an energy-dedicated Forum organized in Turkey and launched, for the first time, by the World Bank.
The event brought together officials from executive institutions, experts, and implementers of energy efficiency and renewable projects from Europe and Central Asia.
