Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration, Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry's ambassador at large analyze situation on Transnistrian file
The present situation in the Transnistrian file and developments in the region over the past months have been discussed by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian and Ambassador at Large of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, His Excellency Marko Shevchenko, Kyiv's representative in the Transnistrian settlement process, accompanied by Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova, His Excellency Paun Rohovei.
According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau (BRP), the officials also analyzed the prospects of stimulating reintegration policies, in the context of the additional possibilities created by the new status of Moldova and Ukraine as candidate countries for EU membership.
“The willingness to work towards strengthening the Moldovan-Ukrainian bilateral dialogue and coordination on issues concerning the Transnistrian problem was reiterated, in order to maintain a positive security climate, more effectively solve the problems of residents on both banks of the Dniester and create fit pre-conditions for achieving the strategic goal of reintegration,” said the BRP.
Ambassador Shevchenko reconfirmed his country's firm support for achieving a final peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, within the internationally recognized borders of Moldova, the BRP added.
