
Polling stations closed
The polling stations opened in the Republic of Moldova for the Romanian presidential elections closed at 21:00. In total, over 28,200 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted throughout Friday.
The voter turnout is higher than in the first round, with voters from the Republic of Moldova being among the most active in the diaspora. High turnout is also recorded in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and France. In total, by 21:00, about 216,000 Romanians from outside the country voted in the presidential election.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania announced that, throughout today, Romanian citizens abroad, including those in the Republic of Moldova, voted under good conditions, without any issues being reported.
"No issues have been reported regarding the conduct of the voting process. The MAE is in constant contact with the diplomatic missions and consular offices to ensure the necessary support for the smooth conduct of the elections abroad," the institution stated.
On Saturday and Sunday, Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova can vote at 64 polling stations. These will be open from 07:00 to 21:00. In the Northern region of the country, 18 polling stations have been organized, in the Central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 are in Chișinău, and in the Southern region - 8 polling stations.
In the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.
For the Romanian presidential elections, 965 polling stations have been opened abroad. Romanian citizens in the diaspora have three days available to vote.
The presidential race includes two candidates: AUR party candidate George Simion and independent candidate Nicușor Dan.
