Prime Minister: Government to continue to invest in education
Children deserve better conditions for studying. Teachers deserve respect and good working conditions. Moldova deserves quality education. That's why the government will continue to make ambitious investments in education. The assurances come from Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who believes that only an educated generation can be a free, responsible, and well-prepared one to build the European future of the Republic of Moldova.
In recent years, according to the prime minister, significant investments have been made in the educational system of the Republic of Moldova, with around 200 schools and kindergartens being renovated, sanitary facilities in educational institutions repaired, and laboratories equipped with modern equipment. At the same time, 1.3 billion lei is being invested into the network of model schools, and the funding value for the modernization of universities amounts to 500 million lei, which is the largest investment in higher education institutions in recent decades.
Additionally, teachers' salaries have been increased, with a cumulative rise of 60 percent in recent years; scholarships for performance athletes and those in pedagogy have been doubled; and the one-time allowance for young specialists in the education system has been increased.
In this context, Dorin Recean emphasized that education is a government priority, and European funds will help us continue to modernize educational infrastructure. The prime minister assured that the executive branch will continue to make ambitious investments in education and provide better conditions for students and teachers.
'Our goal is to continue on the same path—with care for students and teachers—and to always keep education at the forefront. Accession to the EU guarantees that we can meet this objective—European funds will help us continue to modernize educational infrastructure, and belonging to a space of peace and freedom values will help us ensure a fairer, more accessible education better adapted to the real needs of children and youth,' concluded Dorin Recean.
The prime minister thanked teachers, headmasters and all educational staff for the daily work.
