Moldova and Italy signed Memorandum of Cooperation in Justice and Human Rights
The Republic of Moldova and Italy are strengthening their bilateral relations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the justice and human rights. The document, signed by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Justice of Italy, outlines concrete measures for aligning the Moldovan judicial system with European standards.
Among the objectives outlined in the document are support for the harmonization of Moldovan legislation with EU acquis, combating corruption, strengthening international legal cooperation, and promoting the exchange of experience in key areas such as professional training for actors within the judicial system.
During the bilateral meeting in Chișinău, the Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, and her Italian counterpart, Carlo Nordio, emphasized the importance of deepening institutional collaboration and mutual support in the justice reform process.
"Promoting mediation as an effective alternative for dispute resolution is a priority for the Republic of Moldova. The Italian model has provided us with a valuable source of inspiration in developing a new legislative project," stated Minister Mihailov-Moraru.
Italian Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio reiterated Italy's openness to providing support and expertise to the Republic of Moldova.
The official visit of the Italian delegation to Chișinău takes place at the invitation of the Moldovan Minister of Justice.
