Moldovan traditions celebrated at Verdensfolk Festival 2025 in Oslo
The Moldovan community from Norway has brought to the forefront the culture and traditions of Moldova at the Verdensfolk Festival 2025, held in Oslo. This was one of the most significant multicultural events in Norway, which brought together over 45 nations.
Through the Children in Norway Association of Art and Culture for Romanian Speaking Children, the participants presented the public a string of representative activities of the Moldovan cultural heritage: a parade of traditional costumes, artistic moments with traditional dances and songs, a weaving workshop for children, as well as a unique visual installation—Casa Mare, which symbolically rendered the hospitable atmosphere of the Moldovan village.
Children were in the focus of the festivities, wearing traditional clothing, dancing, painting and promoting, through creativity and tradition, the identity values of Moldova.
Participation in the festival was made possible thanks to the Diaspora Relations Bureau, through the Diaspora Engagement Hub Programme, with the financial support on behalf of Moldova’s government. The grant provided enabled the purchase of national costumes, thus strengthening efforts to promote culture among the Diaspora.
The event reaffirmed the essential role of Moldovan communities abroad in preserving and enhancing cultural heritage, proving that traditions can build strong bridges between generations and peoples.
