Moldova's Superior Council of Magistracy orders reevaluation of candidate for Supreme Court of Justice
The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) today ruled to reject the report prepared by the external evaluation committee regarding Diana Ioniță's candidacy for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and ordered her reevaluation.
CSM members identified some inconsistencies in the application of evaluation criteria, compared to other similar cases, where candidates did not pass the evaluation.
At the same time, CSM asked for the reexamination of aspects related to the regime of incompatibilities in the candidate's professional activity.
CSM says that this decision shows the institution's commitment to a transparent, rigorous and fair evaluation process, in line with the principles governing the magistrates' vetting process.
Twenty judges will work at the Supreme Court of Justice of Moldova: 11 are selected from among the magistrates and nine come from other legal professions.
