Moldovans working in Ireland to receive pensions or other social benefits
Moldovans working in Ireland will receive pensions or other social benefits. Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration today approved the advisory opinion for initiating negotiations on an Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Ireland in the social security.
The document will ensure a framework of social security guarantees for migrant workers from the Republic of Moldova, who have worked or lived in the territory of one or both contracting states.
Thus, beneficiaries will be able to receive old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by a general condition, disability pensions and allowances following work accidents or caused by occupational diseases, and survivor's pensions. According to the proportional calculation principle, each state will pay the portion of the pension calculated based on the insurance period achieved on its own territory.
The agreement between our country and Ireland will be negotiated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, with the involvement of several institutions in the field – the National Social Insurance House, the National Council for Determining Disability and Work Capacity, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Currently, the Republic of Moldova applies social security agreements with 18 countries.
