Călărași city celebrated 593 years since its first documented mention yesterday. President Maia Sandu attended the city feast.
The head of state noted that Călărași region has a unique charm: ancient forests, gentle hills, vineyards, monasteries that hold the secret of time, and skilled craftsmen who patiently and masterfully preserve tradition.
"At the end of the day, I arrived in Călărași, where I celebrated the city feast—593 years since the first documented mention, alongside good and welcoming people. Over the years, a worthy community has been built here, connected to its land, freedom, and our values. People who proudly maintain their roots and look confidently to the future. I thank the people of Călărași for their warm hospitality and the confidence with which they step on Moldova's European path. Happy anniversary, Călărași!" said Maia Sandu.
