Draft on ratification of Agreement for Moldova's Growth Plan approved by government
Government approved today a draft law for ratifying the facility agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on the specific modalities of implementing the support provided by the European Union within the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova.
The agreement sets out the principles of financial cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova within the Reform and Growth Facility.
The agreement's general goal is to support the implementation of Moldova's Reform Agenda, contributing to the strengthening of the rule of law and good governance, supporting the transition to a green and digital economy, enhancing economic and social resilience, and accelerating convergence with the European Union.
‘With EU support, we commit to improving living standards, modernizing institutions, and making investments that will ensure the country's economic growth,’ Secretary-General of Government Artur Mija said.
The official assured that the provided financial resources will be invested efficiently, with maximum transparency to boost businesses, improve transport infrastructure, and bring changes in education, healthcare and social services.
The assistance will be primarily directed towards several projects, including the rehabilitation of 200 km of regional roads, the construction of two new regional hospitals in Bălți and Cahul, the renovation of around 1000 school canteens nationwide, the creation of five thousand new spots in kindergartens, the creation of 100,000 jobs, and the opening of five thousand new enterprises, increasing the incomes of young employees by providing a 3,000 lei monthly salary aid, the construction of a bridge over the Prut River and railway links connecting the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
Artur Mija noted that investments in key areas will be possible as a result of implementing the reform agenda, which includes supporting the business environment, digitalizing public services, enhancing energy security, and combating corruption.
The facility agreement was signed on 9 May 2025, during the visit of European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos to our country.
