Prime Minister meets with Lithuanian counterpart
Lithuania will remain a firm supporter of the irreversible European path of the Republic of Moldova, and the collaboration between the two countries will continue for the benefit of the citizens. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement during the press conference held with his Lithuanian counterpart, Gintautas Paluckas.
After the bilateral meeting and the extended format meeting of the delegations, the official said that the Moldovan-Lithuanian partnership is based on a common vision for a united Europe and on concrete projects in agriculture, green energy, security, and institutional development.
According to Recean, with Lithuanian support, solar panels have been installed in public institutions in Ocnița, Cantemir, Comrat, Ceadîr-Lunga, Baurci, Avdarma, Svetlîi, and Etulia. Additionally, the Border Police was equipped with modern technology, and the army received ambulances, equipment, and medical support. At the same time, key institutions such as the National Bank of Moldova and the Competition Council benefit from assistance to align with EU standards.
"The total value of the projects exceeds 30 million euros. Thank you for this sincere assistance. We are confident that, together, we will continue to build a common European future, based on democratic values, prosperity, and peace,” said Recean.
The officials emphasized that in the past year, bilateral trade has increased by over 25%, reaching nearly 47.5 million dollars, and they agreed on organizing a Moldovan-Lithuanian Business Forum in Chisinau to create more direct contacts among entrepreneurs. “We invite Lithuanian investors to explore business opportunities in the Republic of Moldova in areas such as renewable energy, information technology, light industry, and tourism,” emphasized Recean.
Paluckas stressed that Lithuanian assistance for the Republic of Moldova remains a priority, noting that it will be extended to help our country implement reforms that will improve people's lives. “The future of Moldova is in the European family, and I promise that we will work to help you achieve this goal. A prosperous and successful Europe would not be complete without the membership of the Republic of Moldova.”
As a gesture of friendship, Recean presented his counterpart with a copy from the National Archive of the Republic of Moldova of the decision of the first democratically elected Parliament of our country, dated May 31, 1990, recognizing Lithuania's independence: “35 years later, we are proud that the Republic of Moldova was the first to recognize Lithuania's regained independence. This country remains today an example of dignity and courage for us.”
